The Workshop On Radiographic Imaging and Applications (WORIA) is being held under the auspices of the Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation Research and Development (DNN R&D) Near Field Detection portfolio, managed by Dr. Hank Zhu. This meeting is being organized by subject matter experts at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and the Atomic Weapons Establishment (UK).
Outcomes
The eventual format of WORIA should enable the goals of the workshop.
-
A measurable product of the workshop will be a report that identifies an “expert consensus view” regarding current status and future research and development directions for a comprehensive radiography / penetrating imaging portfolio (as an outcome of homework ahead of time and discussions at the workshop). To enable this aim,
-
Each session will address a charge identified by the organizing committee.
-
The charge and participants will be identified ahead of time to enable homework prior to the workshop and genuine discussion/exchange during the workshop
- A notetaker will be designated for each session to compile discussions into a narrative.
-
A difficult-to-measure product of the workshop will be its role to bring together experts for genuine exchange. To enable this goal, registration for the workshop will
-
Require each registrant to enter a goal for each session which will be compiled by the session chairs and evaluated for success
-
Require acknowledgement by registrants of the importance of reporting feedback as a metric for success of the workshop
-
Identify experts in their respective fields for the community and mission stakeholders
