Phil Kerr
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
Phillip Kerr received his doctorate in experimental nuclear physics from Florida State University in 1995. He held a post-doctoral appointment at Los Alamos National Laboratory from 1996-1999. He came to Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in 1999, and is currently a Staff Physicist there. His work at LLNL has focused on applied-physics research and development on radiation-diagnostics instruments and analysis tools for non-proliferation, arms control, and emergency-response applications. Recent efforts include development of portable neutron and gamma-ray detectors, neutron-multiplicity data-acquisition systems, neutron and gamma-ray data-analysis software, and neutron generators for active-neutron interrogation and fast-neutron transmission imaging. He has also developed active and passive neutron-multiplicity counting systems utilizing He-3 proportional counters, fast-neutron scintillation detectors, and pulse-shape discrimination for neutron and gamma-ray detection and timing.
